Women’s Singles Draw | Women’s Doubles Draw

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Members of the Virginia women’s tennis team split in day one action at the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship on Thursday at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) advanced in singles play, while the doubles team of Danielle Collins (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and Meghan Kelley (Falmouth, Me.) advanced in doubles action.

Elbaba picked up a straight-set win, defeating Giuliana Olmos of Southern California 6-0, 6-1. She will now face Beaunna Addison of Texas at 9 a.m. Friday. The Virginia pairing of Collins and Kelley defeated California’s Klara Fabikova and Olivia Hauger 7-5, 6-1. The Cavalier duo will play again on Friday.

Collins fell in singles play, dropping a tight three-set match to Oklahoma State’s Katarina Adamovic 4-6, 6-4, 2-6. The doubles pairing of Elbaba and Skylar Morton (Bethesday, Md.) fell to Florida’s Josie Kuhlman and Belinda Woolcock 6-2, 6-7 (5), 1-0.
