CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 16 Virginia wrestling team begins the spring portion of its schedule on Friday, opening competition at the Southern Scuffle hosted by UT-Chattanooga at 9 a.m. on Friday (Jan. 1).

Ten wrestlers will compete for the Cavaliers with five more wrestling unattached as each team is allowed to bring a total of 15 wrestlers to the event, though only 10 represent the University in competition.

Four wrestlers enter the Southern Scuffle seeded with Joseph Martinez (Platteville, Colo.) seeded eighth at 125 pounds, George DiCamillo (Highland Heights, Ohio) seeded third at 133 pounds, Andrew Atkinson (Lynchburg, Va.) seeded ninth at 157 pounds and Zach Nye (Enola, Pa.) seeded fifth at 197 pounds.

Nye finished in eighth-place at last year’s Southern Scuffle.

Cavaliers In The Rankings:
Virginia comes in ranked as high as No. 16 in the national polls as a team prior to the Southern Scuffle and has a pair of wrestlers ranked at their weight class in DiCamillo and Nye.
