CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia (8-15) softball team opens up play at home this weekend, kicking off a three-game series against No. 20 Notre Dame (18-3) with a doubleheader on Saturday at The Park.

Game one of the doubleheader is set for 1 p.m. with the second game beginning approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of game one. The teams will close out the series at 12 p.m. on Sunday.

Admission to all softball games is free. Fans who can’t make it out to the games can follow live stats linked at VirginiaSports.com. Sunday’s game will have an audio live stream.

Virginia enters the weekend coming off a 23-game road trip to open the season. The Cavaliers played four straight weekends at tournaments before playing a pair of doubleheaders on the road earlier this week.

Madison Labshere (El Cajon, Calif.) and Katie Park (Scottsdale, Ariz.) lead the Cavalier offense this season with both players hitting above the .350 mark on the season. Labshere is hitting at a .367 clip with four home runs, 10 RBI and eight runs scored, while Park is hitting .356 with five home runs and 25 RBI.

Iyana Hughes (Manteca, Calif.) is the top base-runner for the Cavaliers, going 9-for-10 in steal attempts this season and scoring a team-high 19 runs. She is joined by Aimee Chapdelaine (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) who is 7-of-8 on steal attempts and has nine runs scored.

Notre Dame enters the weekend on a 14-game win streak after picking up a doubleheader sweep at FIU this week. Karley Wester leads the Irish at the plate, hitting .500 on the season with 28 runs scored. Caitlyn Brooks has a team-leading five home runs and is tied for the team lead with 23 RBI.

Allie Rhodes (8-2) leads the Irish in the circle with a 2.53 ERA through 66.1 innings of work. She has 75 strikeouts to only 17 walks on the season.
