CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.-Virginia track and field redshirt-sophomore Filip Mihaljevic is set to compete at the IAAF World Championships, to be held March 17-20 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Ore.

Mihaljevic will represent Croatia in the men’s shot put on Friday (March 18) at 9:45 p.m. In addition, former UVA standout Payton Hazzard (Class of 2015) will compete for Grenada in the men’s 400 meters on Friday afternoon at 2:45 p.m.

NBCSN will broadcast the meet beginning Friday night at 12:30 a.m. and continuing live on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. ET and Sunday at 4 p.m. All times are Eastern.

Mihaljevic finished second in the shot put at the NCAA Indoor Championships last Saturday (March 12) in Birmingham, Ala. It was Mihaljevic’s fourth career first-team All-America performance. He broke the ACC and UVA record with a throw of 20.69m (67′ 10.75″) at the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet in January. Mihaljevic earned gold in the shot put at the 2015 European Under-23 Championships for Croatia.

Hazzard was a three-time All-American for the Cavaliers, including a first-team nod in 2015 with the sixth-place distance medley relay. Hazzard currently holds three school records, including both the indoor and outdoor 400 meters. Hazzard represented Grenada at the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
