GAINESVILLE, Fla.-The No. 5 Virginia men’s track and field team posted three top-five finishes on the final day of the Florida Relays Saturday (April 2) at Pressly Stadium in Gainesville, Fla.

The 4×800-meter relay of juniors Nathan Kiley (Chantilly, Va.) and Henry Wynne (Westport, Conn.) and sophomores Logan Carrington (Leesburg, Va.) and Kenneth Hagen (Blacksburg, Va.) finished third in a time of 7:25.92.

In the distance medley relay, the team of freshman Matthew Novak (Glen Allen, Va.), freshmen Charles Bowman (Harrisburg, Pa.) and Devin Barnes (Henrico, Va.) and redshirt-junior Adam Visokay (Ruckersville, Va.) crossed the line in third in 9:54.65.

In the shot put invite, redshirt-freshman Oghenakpobo Efekoro (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished fourth with a throw of 18.59m (61′ 0″), which ranks fourth on UVA’s all-time list and third on the school’s freshman list.

Redshirt-sophomore Aaron Worrell (Fort Eustis, Va.) placed 15th in the triple jump with a mark of 14.94m (49′ 0.25″).

“It is great to walk away from the opening weekend with a large number of NCAA qualifying marks, knowing that they will get even better as the season rolls on,” UVA director of track and field/cross country Bryan Fetzer said. “Our young men made some big improvements and adjustments this weekend under a lot of pressure. We have high expectations and that will not change as the season progresses, so it is good to see them continue to raise the level.”

Next up, the Cavaliers will host two meets at Lannigan Field with the UVA Quad against Columbia, Maryland and Penn on Friday, April 8 at 6 p.m. and the Lou Onesty/Milton G Abramson Invitational on Saturday, April 9 at 2 p.m. Admission to both meets is free to the public.
