Game 1
Virginia 5, Syracuse 3

Syracuse got on the board in the first inning, loading the bases with one out before a fielder’s choice to second brought in the first run of the game. The Cavaliers then got a groundout in the next at bat to end the inning, but trailed 1-0.

The Orange added a second run in the second inning, taking advantage of a fielding error on a bunt to put the leadoff runner in scoring position. Syracuse brought her around with a sac bunt and a single to take the 2-0 lead before Virginia would get out of the inning.

Virginia pushed three runs home in the third inning, capitalizing on miscues by the Orange to tie the game. With two outs, the Cavaliers put the rally together, taking advantage of a fielding error at first and a single through the left side from Danni Ingraham (Laguna Nigel, Calif.) to even the score.

Arneson pushed Virginia in front in the fourth with her solo shot to left field.

Labshere got a run back with her sixth home run of the season in the home half of the fifth to cut the lead to 10-8.
