CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Taylor Ziemer (Santa Rosa, Calif.), a newcomer to the Virginia women’s soccer team, opened training camp with the U18 Women’s Team at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center on Saturday. The camp runs from April 16-23 in Carson, Calif.

Ziemer is a forward and joined the team in the spring as an early enrollee.

The USA will be coached by U.S. Soccer Women’s Technical Director April Heinrichs who has called up 26 players, all born in 1998. Three players — Sabrina Flores of Notre Dame, Taylor Hallmon of Florida State and Taylor Ziemer of Virginia — are in college while the rest are still playing youth club soccer.

All the players in the camp are age-eligible for the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup which has an age cut-off of players born on or after Jan. 1, 1996, but the goal for this age group is to ultimately qualify for the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
