LANDISVILLE, Pa. – Former Virginia women’s tennis player Julia Elbaba (Oyster Bay, N.Y.) saw her run through the Koser Jewelers Tennis Challenge come to an end in the finals on Sunday (Aug. 14).

Elbaba advanced to the finals with a straight-set win over the tournament’s second-seeded player Ekaterina Alexandrova in the semifinals. The former Cavalier defeated the seeded player 7-6 (1), 7-6 (1) to advance to the championship match. Alexandrova was the 149th-ranked player in the WTA rankings.

Elbaba fell 6-0, 6-0 in the finals to Laura Robson.

She defeated Chanel Simmonds in the opening match of the main draw 6-3, 6-3 before advancing with a 6-4, 2-1 (ret.) win over Shilin Xu in the second round. Xu was the 207th ranked player. Elbaba then rallied to defeat Renata Zarazua in the quarterfinals 4-6, 7-5, 6-0.
