CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. ÃÆ’¢Ãƒ¢’¬” Virginia junior goalkeeper Jeff Caldwell (Jr., Todd, N.C.) has been tabbed as the ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Week, as announced today by the conference office. Caldwell shares the distinction with Clemson’s Ximo Miralles and North Carolina’s James Pyle.

This marks Caldwell’s first career ACC Player of the Week honor.

Caldwell recorded back-to-back clean sheets in UVA’s 1-0-1 week. He made two saves ÃÆ’¢Ãƒ¢’¬” one on a point-blank shot from six yards ÃÆ’¢Ãƒ¢’¬” in the Tuesday win over Cornell. He followed it up by stopping five shots on goal in treacherous conditions Friday night against No. 18 Virginia Tech. UVA had allowed six goals in its previous match at Louisville before the strong defensive effort last week.

The Cavaliers play host to Hofstra at 7 p.m. Tuesday before heading to No. 4 North Carolina at 7 p.m. Friday (Oct. 7).
