CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s tennis team continues its fall season this weekend, beginning on Friday in a three-day tournament at the Puerto Rico College Challenge in Palma del Mar, Puerto Rico.

The tournament will feature a round-robin format of matches in both singles and doubles against players from Georgia, Old Dominion and Vanderbilt.

The Cavaliers are coming off a solid performance at the ITA Atlantic Regional hosted by Old Dominion that saw junior Cassie Mercer (Huntington, W.V.) advance to the semifinals of the singles bracket.

It’s the fourth tournament of the fall for Virginia, which has already competed at the Bonk Invitational at Duke and the UVA Fall Classic, in addition to the ITA Atlantic Regional. The Cavaliers have two more competitions on the schedule, including the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate and the UNC Fall Invitational.
