UVA in 10th Place to Open Landfall Tradition

Wilmington, N.C. – The Virginia women’s golf team shot 12-over 300 during the first round of play at the Landfall Tradition tournament and is tied for 10th place with North Carolina. Oklahoma leads the field at 4-under 284.
Freshman Julia Ford (Shrewsbury, Mass.) shot her best round as a collegiate to lead the Cavaliers. Ford finished the first round in fifth place with a round of 1-under 71. Sophomore Morgan Gonzales (Chandler, Ariz.) is in 37th place at 75 while senior Lauren Diaz-Yi (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) and sophomore Katharine Patrick (Houston, Texas) are tied for 55th after posting scores of 5-over 77.
Sophomore Anna Redding (Concord, N.C.) is in 69th place after shooting 78. Rachel Corry (Ridgefield, Conn.), competing as an individual, carded a round of 80 and is in 85th place.
Oklahoma’s Hannah Wood led the field after shooting 3-under 69.
The three-day tournament runs through Sunday. Virginia is paired with North Carolina and Texas Tech for the second round. They will start play at 10:09 p.m. from the 10th tee. Live scoring is online at Golfstat.com.
