Virginia Successful At Puerto Rico College Challenge

PALMA DEL MAR, Puerto Rico – The Virginia women’s team concluded a successful weekend at the Puerto Rico College Challenge on Sunday, closing out three days of round-robin matches in singles and doubles with Georgia, Old Dominion and Vanderbilt.
The Cavaliers got several matches in over the weekend as the fall season comes to a close. Virginia has one more weekend of competition on the fall schedule before taking a break until the spring portion of the season opens in January.
Freshmen Hunter Bleser (New Braunfels, Texas) and Camille Favero (Sacramento, Calif.), and sophomore Meghan Kelley (Falmouth, Maine) all went undefeated in singles play. Sophomore Erica Susi (Vero Beach, Fla.) went 2-1 in her three singles matches over the weekend.
Junior Cassie Mercer (Huntington, W.V.) and freshman Rosie Johanson (Abbotsford, British Columbia) also picked up wins in singles play.
The Cavaliers played several different combinations of players in doubles competition, posting a 5-5 record on the weekend to split matches.
Virginia will return to action on Friday (Nov. 4) when the Cavaliers compete at the Kitty Harrison Invitational hosted by North Carolina.
