DURHAM, N.C. – The Virginia women’s tennis team completed the first day of action at the Kitty Harrison Invitational on Friday (Nov. 4) going undefeated in singles play and picking up three wins in doubles play.

The Cavaliers picked up nine wins in singles play against Minnesota, including a pair of wins from freshman Hunter Bleser (New Braunfels, Texas). Freshmen Camille Favero (Sacramento, Calif.) and Rosie Johanson (Abbotsford, British Columbia), sophomore Meghan Kelley (Falmouth, Maine), and juniors Cassie Mercer (Huntington, W.V.) and junior Teodora Radosavljevic (Belgrade, Serbia) all picked up straight-set wins.

Freshman Chloe Gullickson (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) and sophomore Erica Susi (Vero Beach, Fla.) both fought through three sets to keep the Cavaliers undefeated in singles on the afternoon.

In doubles action, Virginia split a pair of matches against Duke and took two of four doubles matches from Minnesota. The Cavaliers lost both doubles matches played against pairings from Texas Tech.

The Cavaliers will return to action on Saturday morning, facing Penn State in doubles before taking on William and Mary in singles in the afternoon.
