CLEVELAND, Ohio – Virginia senior George DiCamillo (Highland Heights, Ohio) opened the season with a big victory, defeating No. 15 Brock Zacherl of Clarion at the National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Star Classic on Saturday (Nov. 5).

Ranked No. 10 at 141 pounds, DiCamillo wrestled Zacherl in an undercard match at the season-opening event. Trailing 3-1, DiCamillo used an escape and a late takedown to pick up the 4-3 victory.

DiCamillo is coming off a 29-5 record as a junior and claimed his third ACC Championship last season. He also qualified for the NCAA Championships for a third time in his career, becoming only the seventh Virginia wrestler to win three ACC titles. Zacherl claimed the Eastern Wrestling League (EWL) championship at 141 pounds a year ago, finishing the season with a 28-3 record. He also qualified for his first NCAA Championship appearance last season as a redshirt freshman.
