CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Virginia women’s tennis team wrapped up play at the Kitty Harrison Invitational on Sunday (Nov. 6) with Chloe Gullickson (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) and Cassie Mercer (Huntington, W.V.) finishing second in doubles, and freshman Rosie Johanson (Abbotsford, British Columbia) finishing fourth in singles for the event.

The pairing of Gullickson and Mercer posted a 3-0 record on the weekend, picking up doubles wins against teams from Duke, Minnesota and Penn State. In singles play, Johanson posted a 3-0 record with wins over players from Minnesota, North Carolina and William & Mary.

Sunday’s competition featured singles only with four Virginia players facing players from North Carolina and four facing opponents from William & Mary. Johanson and Gullickson posted singles wins on Sunday against Tar Heels, while Mercer, Hunter Bleser (New Braunfels, Texas), Teodora Radosavljevic (Belgrade, Serbia) and Erica Susi (Vero Beach, Fla.) posted a clean sweep with four singles wins over players from William & Mary.

The fall season has ended for the Cavaliers, but Virginia will return to action in January of 2017, opening the spring portion of the season at home against Atlantic Coast Conference rival Boston College on Saturday, Jan. 21.
