MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – A back and forth battle turned the way of the home team late as Virginia (0-2) fell in dual competition at No. 17 Central Michigan (1-0) by a score of 22-10 on Sunday (Nov. 13).

Freshman Jack Mueller (Dallas, Texas), and seniors George DiCamillo (Highland Heights, Ohio) and Ray Bethea (Trenton, N.J.) picked up the wins for the Cavaliers. DiCamillo grabbed bonus points with a major decision in his match.

The Cavaliers will now return home to host a tri-meet on Sunday (Nov. 20) when Virginia welcomes Lock Haven and Maryland to Memorial Gymnasium.

Mueller started things off with a decision at 125 pounds, setting the tone as he jumped out to the early lead and never trailed in his 8-4 decision and put Virginia in the lead.

Central Michigan then picked up a win at 133 pounds to tie the match, before DiCamillo would snag a major decision with a dominant performance at 141 pounds that moved the Cavaliers back in front of the Chippewas.

Freshman Sam Krivus (Greensburg, Pa.) battled at 149 pounds, falling late to All-American and eighth-ranked Justin Oliver in an 8-6 decision. It was the first of two straight victories for the Chippewas as No. 20 Andrew Atkinson (Lynchburg, Va.) dropped a pitched battle with No. 12 Collin Heffernan at 157 pounds. The second consecutive 8-6 decision put Central Michigan back in front in the overall dual score.

Bethea again flipped the lead, picking up a 3-1 decision at 165 pounds, defeating Logan Parks to give Virginia the one-point lead in the overall score.

The Cavaliers would drop the next four bouts to the Chippewas as Central Michigan would lock up the match with the wins in the final four weight classes.
