GREENSBORO, N.C.-Three Cavaliers – senior Zach Herriott, junior Chase Weaverling and sophomore Emily Mulhern – have been named to the All-ACC Academic Cross Country Teams, the conference announced Thursday (Feb. 9). In addition, Mulhern and Weaverling were named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Academic Team, the USTFCCCA announced Thursday.

Herriott (Kansas City, Mo. – Economics) and Weaverling (Darnestown, Md. – Mechanical Engineering) were named to the men’s team after earning both All-ACC and All-Southeast Region honors during the 2016 season. It is Weaverling’s third conference academic honor, after earning All-ACC Academic recognition for the 2015 cross country and 2016 indoor seasons. It is Herriott’s first All-Academic Team honor.

Mulhern (Ijamsville, Md. – Kinesiology) was named to the women’s team after earning All-ACC and All-Southeast Region honors. This is the second time Mulhern has been named to the All-ACC Academic Team for cross country.

In addition to Mulhern and Weaverling’s individual USTFCCCA honors, both the Cavalier men and women were named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams for having cumulative team GPAs higher than 3.0 for the fall 2016 semester.

Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.

The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
