Four Hoos Earn Indoor Track All-America Honors

Charlottesville, Va. ÃÆ’¢Ãƒ¢’¬” Four members of the Virginia men’s track and field program have been named All-Americans by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the indoor season. Senior Jordan Young (Windsor, Ontario) and junior Oghenakpobo Efekoro (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earned first-team honors, while senior Zach Herriott (Kansas City, Mo.) and freshman Jordan Scott (Portmore, Jamaica) took home second-team honors.
It marked the eighth time in Young’s career he has earned track and field All-America honors and is the third time he has picked up the distinction in the weight throw. Young entered the NCAA Indoor Championships as the sixth seed and placed third overall, hitting a mark of 22.41 meters. Young won the ACC Indoor Championship in the event.
Efekoro earned Indoor All-America honors for the first time in his career. He placed third at the NCAAs in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 19.84 meters. He was the No. 13 seed in the field and made significant improvement over his third-place showing at the ACC Indoor Championships where his best throw was 19.13 meters.
Making his first appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships, Herriott finished 12th overall in the 5000 meters, finishing in a time of 13:59.99.
The ACC Indoor Champion, Scott placed 10th at the NCAA Indoors triple jump with a top mark of 15.69 meters.
