AUSTIN, Texas – The No. 6 UVA men’s track and field team concluded the 90th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, presented by Spectrum, Saturday (April 1) with a new personal record from redshirt sophomore Oghenakpobo Efekoro (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in the shot put.

Efekoro threw a personal best of 19.63 meters (64-5) in the last round of the event. He additionally captured the best throw in the meet for first place.

“Any PR (personal record) day is a good day, especially when one throws a PR at their first meet of the outdoor season in front of 5,000 people while battling allergies,” said assistant coach Martin Maric. “He (Efekoro) continues to stay motivated and diligent in his training. The best things are yet to come.”

The new personal standard places Efekoro both second in the nation and East Region, according to the rankings leading into the weekend.

Next, UVA will host a quad meet with Maryland, Penn and Columbia on April 8. The meet will be held at Lannigan Field and is open to the public.
