CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 33 Virginia women’s tennis team (7-8, 5-3 ACC) returns to the road this weekend, playing the first of two road matches at Clemson (8-10, 3-6 ACC) at 5 p.m. on Friday afternoon.

Fans can follow the action through live stats linked at VirginiaSports.com or by following the program’s official Twitter account @UVAWomensTennis.

Both teams are looking to kick off the stretch run in the ACC race with a win as Clemson is coming off back-to-back losses to NC State and Duke last weekend, while the Cavaliers dropped a tight 4-3 contest with Wake Forest.

Virginia is led by a pair of players ranked in the ITA singles rankings with freshman Rosie Johanson (Abbotsford, British Columbia) ranked No. 43 and junior Cassie Mercer (Huntington, W.V.) ranked No. 116. In doubles, the pairing of Mercer and Chloe Gullickson (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) is ranked No. 30 in the ITA doubles rankings.

Clemson enters the weekend contest with Ayan Broomfield representing the Tigers in the ITA singles rankings at No. 97. In doubles, Clemson also has one team represented in the rankings with Broomfield pairing with Marie Leduc as the No. 31 team.

Following the match with the Tigers, Virginia will then continue play on the road at No. 6 Georgia Tech on Sunday (April 9) at 11 a.m.
