With a strong opening to the outdoor campaign, UVA heads into the weekend with several athletes already securing personal records and top regional rankings. Senior Henry Wynne (Westport, Conn.) holds the top time in the men’s 5,000 meters while senior Zach Herriott (Kansas City, Mo.) ranks seventh nationally in the 10,000 meters.

In the 90th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays last weekend, freshman Jordan Scott (Portmore, Jamaica) and redshirt sophomore Oghenakpobo Efekoro (Brooklyn, N.Y.) claimed personal best performances. Scott topped the UVA all-time first-year list in the triple jump (16.01 meters, 52-6.5), ranking fifth nationally for the mark. He later jumped for a wind assisted distance of 16.34 meters (53-7.5). Efekoro’s throw in the shot put placed him atop the competition in Texas and third in the nation. He threw for a mark of 19.63 meters (64-5).

On the women’s side, senior Christine Bohan (Avon Lake, Ohio) notched her second section-win of the season, taking first at the Texas Relays in the shot put. She is 23rd nationally.

UVA will open this weekend’s events with the women’s hammer throw at 2 p.m.
