CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 33 Virginia women’s tennis team (7-9, 5-4 ACC) continues ACC play on the road Sunday (April 9), facing No. 6 Georgia Tech (19-2, 9-0 ACC) at 11 a.m. at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex.

Virginia is led by a pair of players ranked in the ITA singles rankings with freshman Rosie Johanson (Abbotsford, British Columbia) ranked No. 43 and junior Cassie Mercer (Huntington, W.V.) ranked No. 116. In doubles, the pairing of Mercer and Chloe Gullickson (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) is ranked No. 30 in the ITA doubles rankings.

The Cavaliers are coming off a tight 4-3 contest at Clemson on Friday afternoon with the home-standing Tigers rallying in singles for the win over Virginia. Georgia Tech is playing its only match of the weekend against Virginia on Sunday. The Yellow Jackets most recently picked up road wins at No. 4 North Carolina and at No. 29 Wake Forest.

In the latest ITA rankings released Tuesday, Tech boasts four Jackets ranked nationally in singles: No. 48 Rasheeda McAdoo, No. 76 Paige Hourigan, No. 101 Johnnise Renaud and No. 120 Kenya Jones. Georgia Tech has two doubles tandems ranked: No. 19 Renaud and McAdoo as well as No. 79 Hourigan and Jones.

It is the second of a five-match road trip for the Cavaliers. The road trip continues next weekend with road contests against Duquesne and Pittsburgh on Friday (April 14), and at Louisville on Sunday (April 16).
