No. 18 UVA Hosts Robert Morris on Tuesday Night

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. РThe Virginia Cavaliers (7-5) conclude the 2017 home portion of their schedule when they host the Robert Morris Colonials (8-3) at Kl̮ծԦckner Stadium on Tuesday night. Virginia is ranked No. 18 in both the USILA coaches and Inside Lacrosse/Maverick media polls. Robert Morris is receiving votes in the coaches poll.

Virginia and Robert Morris are meeting for the second time in series history. UVA holds the 1-0 advantage in the series after the Cavaliers cruised to an 18-9 victory when they were ranked No. 1 in the nation in 2010. UVA was led by Chris Bocklet, who recorded a career-high nine points on six goals and three assists in the triumph.

The Cavaliers are led by Michael Kraus’ 30 goals and 50 points. Zed Williams has a team-high 23 assists and is second on the team with 45 points. Mike D’Amario is second on the team with 29 goals, while Dox Aitken is third on the team with 26 goals. Goalie Griffin Thompson is saving 46.5 percent of shots against him, while posting a 12.58 goals against average.

RMU head coach Andrew McMinn is in his fifth season at Robert Morris and is coming off a 2016 season where the Colonials finished 7-8. Matt Schmidt leads RMU with 20 goals and 27 points. Adrian Torok-Orban shares the team lead with 20 goals and is second on the squad with 25 points. Tyson Gibson has a team-high 12 assists and 25 points, while Ryan Smith is second on the team with 18 goals. Goalie Alex Heger is saving 57.9 percent of shots between the pipes and posting a 9.34 goals against average.

UVA concludes ACC play at No. 9 Duke on Saturday. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m. and the game will be webcast by ACC Network Extra.
