CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia redshirt sophomore Oghenakpobo Efekoro (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league Tuesday (April 11).

Efekoro notched the country’s top shot put, this season, recording a mark of 20.63 meters (66-10.75) for a personal best. He is also the season’s first NCAA student-athlete to break the 20-meter mark in the event.

In addition to pacing the country in the event, Efekoro broke the Lannigan Field record and moved to second on the UVA all-time best performance list.

The award marks the first ACC weekly award for Efekoro.
