Rosie Johanson Named All-ACC Selection

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. ÃÆ’Æ‘¢ÃƒÆ’¢’¬” Freshman Rosie Johanson (Abbotsford, British Columbia) was selected to the 2017 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis team as voted on by the league’s coaches and announced on Thursday (April 27). Johanson was named to the All-ACC second team.
Johanson holds a 27-10 record in singles heading into the ACC Championships, including a 12-4 mark in dual matches and an 8-5 mark in ACC play. The freshman started the season playing No. 2 singles for the Cavaliers, posting a 7-2 mark, before moving up to the top spot in the singles lineup where she posted an 8-4 mark.
Johanson also holds 17 wins in doubles play with doubles partner Meghan Kelley (Falmouth, Maine), including an 11-4 mark at No. 2 doubles and an 8-4 mark in ACC play.
The freshman is currently ranked No. 56 in the ITA women’s singles rankings.
Johanson and Virginia open play at the ACC Championships on Thursday as the eight seed, taking on ninth-seeded Florida State at 4 p.m. The tournament is being played at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College in Rome, Ga.
