Cavaliers Move to Fifth in ACC Championships

Atlanta, Ga.- The Virginia women’s track and field team completed day two of the ACC Championships on Saturday (May 13) at the George C. Griffin Track and Field Facility in Atlanta, Ga. The Cavaliers finished the day ranked fifth with 21.5 points.
Virginia Tech leads the field with 58.5 points followed by Duke in second with 57.5. Florida State ranks third with 56.5 points.
UVA advanced in the team standings after scoring three student-athletes during the day’s events.
Senior Christine Bohan (Avon Lake, Ohio) led the team, recording a season-best performance in the shot put. Her effort of 16.23m (53-3) placed fourth in the event to earn second-team All-ACC honors.
In the heptathlon, junior Holly Sullivan (Chester Springs, Pa.) recorded a personal-best performance on all six combined events. She totaled 5,317 points to rank fifth in the meet, earning second-team All-ACC. The effort also placed her fifth in UVA history.
Sophomore Carly Feyerabend (Mechanicsville, Va.) received second-team All-ACC honors after she finished fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.67m (5-5.75).
“We are maximizing on the opportunities that we have, which is great” head coach Bryan Fetzer said. “We had a few setbacks with individuals we thought were going to make the finals and didn’t; but at the same time, that is the ebb and flow of a championship. Holly (Sullivan), Carly (Feyerabend) and Christine (Bohan) had great performances today.”
The ACC Championships will conclude tomorrow (May 14) with action beginning at 2 p.m. ACC Network Extra will stream events beginning at 5:00 p.m.
