ACC Release

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- Virginia track and field senior Filip Mihaljevic (Livno, Bosnia and Herzegovina) was named ACC Men’s Outdoor Field Performer of the Year, as announced by the league office on Friday (June 16). He earned the honor for the second consecutive year.

Mihaljevic led the Cavaliers to a program-best third place finish at the NCAA Championships, winning two national titles (shot put and discus) for 20 points. He set UVA records in both events with a mark of 21.30m (69-10.75) in the shot put and a mark of 63.76m (209-2) in the discus. His mark in the shot put also set an ACC record.

During the league championships, Mihaljevic reclaimed the ACC Outdoor Championship Men’s Field MVP honor. He finished first in the shot put and the discus, concluding his career with 10 ACC first-place finishes (indoor and outdoor). Mihaljevic was the third student-athlete in ACC history to win four discus titles and the ninth competitor to win four titles in any single ACC outdoor event.

Mihaljevic earned the eighth end-of year ACC outdoor honor for the Cavaliers. He was the ACC Men’s Outdoor Field Performer of the Year in 2016.
