As we continue through the 2017-18 season, members of the Virginia women’s soccer team took some time to sit down and answer a few questions to provide a little insight and help our fans get to know them better as student-athletes.
Name: Jasmine Wright

Position: Defender/Midfielder

What do you love most about competing as a Virginia Cavalier?
I love representing my school, team, teachers, coaches, etc. every time we step on the field. Wearing “University of Virginia” across my chest is a huge honor.
Why did you choose Virginia?
I chose UVA because it had rigorous academics, talented athletics, a beautiful campus, amazing coaches, and so much more.
What will be your lasting memory of your time as a Virginia Cavalier? Winning a national championship in the near future! But as of now it would be the ACC championship game versus Florida State my first year.
What defines a Cavalier?
Someone who is passionate and driven to succeed and to be the best he can be every time he trains.
Who or what motivates you in your sport?
My coaches and my teammates motivate me. Simply playing for one another makes me want to achieve.
What are your goals for the season?
Win an ACC and national championship.
Favorite family vacation?
Hawaii

Any type of psychology class interests me.

Who is your hero and why?
My parents because they always know how to deal with adversity and never crack under pressure.
Name one thing most people probably don’t know about you?
I am a dual citizen: American and Canadian.
Besides your own sport, what’s a sporting event on Grounds that fans need to experience at least once and why?
Basketball games because of the atmosphere and JPJ.
If you could play any other sport, what would it be?
Volleyball. I wish I was taller
If you could give any advice to younger athletes entering the sport what would it be?
Don’t quit when the odds are against you or things do not go your way. Proving people wrong is an amazing feeling.
