CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- The No. 15 Virginia men’s cross country team finished first at the Virginia/Panorama Farms Invitational on Saturday (Sept. 23) at Panorama Farms in Earlysville.

The Cavaliers scored 55 points to lead the field,followed by Campbell with 59 points and Charlotte in third with 81 points.

“It was nice to get the win,” head coach Pete Watson said. “I am pleased with the result from the guys and it was good to see Ari Klau in the mix with a solid run for us. We now have three weeks to get ready for Wisconsin.”

All five of Virginia’s scoring runs finished in the top 20. Senior Brent Demarest (Charleston, S.C.) placed fifth, leading UVA in the competition with a time of 24.03.2. Sophomore Lachlan Cook (Brisbane, Australia) was the next Cavalier to cross the finish line with a time of 24:13.0 to place seventh, while redshirt sophomore Ari Klau (West Hartford, Conn.) finished 12th with a time of 24:51.1. Redshirt sophomores Alex Corbett (Burke, Va.) and Matthew Novak (Glen Allen, Va.) rounded out the scoring runs, finishing 14th and 17th, respectively. Corbett ran a time of 24:59.9 and Novak recorded a time of 25.08.0.

Virginia will be back in action on Oct. 13 in Madison, Wis., for the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational.
