MALIBU, Calif. – Junior Meghan Kelley (Falmouth, Maine) of the Virginia women’s tennis team ended her singles run at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships on Sunday (Oct. 1) falling in the final round of action. Kelley dropped a straight-set match to Sabina Machalova of Ole Miss.
Kelley, who is ranked No. 124 and picked up a pair of wins on Saturday to advance to the final rounds, dropped the Sunday match to Machalova 6-3, 6-3. With the win, Machalova advances to the qualifying rounds of the event.
The qualifying rounds of the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships begin on Tuesday (Oct. 3). Senior Cassie Mercer (Huntington, W.V.) will compete in the qualifying rounds with bracket pairings announced on Monday (Oct. 2).
