CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Junior Meghan Kelley (Falmouth, Maine) picked up a pair of wins on Saturday (Sept. 30) at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships as competition began with the pre-qualifying rounds. The matches were played at Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif.
Kelley, who is ranked No. 124 in the ITA singles rankings, defeated Victoria Dzyuba of Lipscomb in the opening match of the day before beating Adriana Reami of NC State in the second match of the day. Kelley won 6-2, 6-2 over Dzyuba before winning 7-6 (11), 6-4 over Reami.
On Sunday, Kelley will face Sabina Machalova of Ole Miss to advance to the qualifying rounds of the tournament. Machalova is seeded in the group of 9-16 in the pre-qualifying rounds and picked up a three-set win over Oklahoma State’s Katarina Stresnakova and then defeated Ellyse Hamlin of Duke to advance to Sunday’s match.
Qualifying rounds at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships begin on Tuesday (Oct. 3) and will be played at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
