TROY, N.Y. – Five members of the Virginia wrestling team closed out competition at the Journeymen Classic on Sunday, wrestling as individuals in the round-robin tournament hosted at Hudson Valley Community College.

Freshman Jake Keating (Naperville, Ill.) took second in his weight class grouping, posting a 2-1 record on the day that included two wins by fall at 149 pounds, while redshirt freshman Robert Scherer (Lower Burrell, Pa.) finished third in his heavyweight grouping.

Redshirt freshman Michael Murphy (Lookout Mountain, Tenn.) took fourth place in his weight class grouping, wrestling at 157 pounds.

Michael Battista (Ashburn, Va.) and Jack Walsh (Atlanta, Ga.) took fifth in their weight class groupings. Battista wrestled at 174 pounds, while Walsh wrestled at 184 pounds.

Virginia will return to action on Friday, Nov. 17, when the Cavaliers host the first home dual of the season against Gardner-Webb. The dual meet is set for a 7 p.m. start and will be held in the Aquatic & Fitness Center on Grounds.
