CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- Senior swimmer Caitlin Cooper (Atlanta, Ga.) and junior diver Kylie Towbin (New Canaan, Conn.) earned weekly ACC honors, as announced by the league office on Tuesday (Jan. 9).

Cooper led the No. 11 Virginia women’s team to a dual meet win over No. 7 Tennessee, 177- 123, with four first-place finishes. Individually, she placed first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.35, before capturing the top swim in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.40.

In the relays, Cooper anchored the 200-yard medley relay, edging Tennessee by one one-hundredth of a second with a time of 1:40.47. She swam the second leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay with a spilt of 49.48. The 400-yard freestyle relay team finished first with a time of 3:18.17.

Towbin placed in the top 10 twice at the Tennessee Diving Invitational. She finished fourth in the platform with a score of 242.6, in addition to advancing to the finals of the 1-meter dive, finishing ninth in the event with a score of 269.85. Towbin placed 21st in the 3-meter dive with 262.6 points.

Diving scores from the 1-meter and 3-meter dives at the Tennessee Diving Invitational were added to the team scores for the Cavaliers dual meet against Tennessee. Towbin recorded the top performance against Tennessee in the 1-meter dive, while finishing fourth in the 3-meter dive.

Virginia returns to action on Friday (Jan. 12) against Virginia Tech in Christiansburg, Va. The meet will begin at 5 p.m.
