The meet will host student-athletes from 40 different colleges. Virginia enters the competition ranked 21st in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association’s latest poll. The competition will also feature the No. 12 Virginia Tech men’s team.

The Liberty Kickoff is the second competition of the year for the Cavaliers, who opened the indoor season last weekend at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational. Halle Hazzard (Commack, N.Y.) set a freshman record in the 60m dash with a time of 7.54. Additionally, sophomore Jordan Scott (Portmore, Jamaica) finished second at the meet in the triple jump, first among collegiate athletes in the event, with a jump of 15.75m (51’8.25″). His performance ranked him seventh in the NCAA and earned him ACC Field Performer of the Week honors.

Virginia holds three Liberty Indoor Track Complex facility records with redshirt junior Jack Lint (Westerville, Ohio) posting the heptathlon record with a score of 5,385. Former track and field athletes Henry Wynne and Christine Bohan hold the record in the men’s 3000m run and women’s shot put, respectively.
