The United States Under-20 Women’s [Soccer] National Team earned a berth in the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup over the weekend by advancing to the finals of the 2018 CONCACAF Championships in Trinidad & Tobago. The feat was accomplished in no small part due to the contributions of members of the Virginia women’s soccer team. Goalkeeper Laurel Ivory, midfielder/defender Zoe Morse and forward/midfielder Taryn Torres all played for the U.S. squad. In the semifinal match against Haiti, which went to penalty kicks after playing to a draw in regulation, saw Torres hit the first penalty kick for the United States while Morse hit the clinching kick to send America into the finals.
