CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.– The Virginia men’s and women’s track and field teams will compete in the Power 5 Invitational, hosted by Michigan, beginning on Friday (Feb. 2) in Ann Arbor, Mich., at the U-M Indoor Track Building. The meet will begin on Friday at noon. and on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

The meet will feature Michigan, Baylor, Duke, Indiana, Louisville, Miami (Fla.), Minnesota, NC State, Stanford and Vanderbilt. The No. 24 Cavalier men’s team will face ranked opponents No. 17 Stanford and No. 22 Indiana, while the Virginia women’s team will compete against No. 11 Minnesota, No. 16 Stanford, No. 17 Michigan and No. 19 Baylor, according to the latest poll from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

The Cavaliers enter with three performances ranked inside the top 25 nationally as sophomore Jordan Scott (Portmore, Jamaica) and junior Kelly McKee (Lenexa, Kan.) rank 16th and 23rd, respectively in the men’s and women’s triple jump. Scott recorded a jump of 15.75m (51’8.25″), while McKee recorded a mark of 12.77m (41’10.75″) to open the indoor season. Senior Bridget Guy (Greensburg, Pa.) holds the 25th best performance this year in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.10m (13’5.25″).

This weekend, three Virginia athletes enter as the top seed in an event as Scott and McKee lead the triple jump. Redshirt junior Oghenakpobo Efekoro (Brooklyn, N.Y.) holds the top seed in the shot put.

Additionally, three Cavaliers are seeded third in an event: graduate student Mike Marsella (Hope Valley, R.I.) in the 800m run, redshirt junior Alex Corbett (Burke, Va.) in the 5000m run and redshirt junior Mia Barron (Minnetonka, Minn.) in the triple jump.
