As we continue through the 2017-18 season, members of the Virginia wrestling team took some time to sit down and answer a few questions to provide a little insight and help our fans get to know them better as student-athletes.

What do you love most about competing as a Virginia Cavalier?
I love how our team is a family and how everyone looks out for each other.

Why did you choose Virginia?
I wanted to succeed in academics as well as my wrestling.

What will be your lasting memory of your time as a Virginia Cavalier?
I will always remember my team and coaching staff.

What defines a Cavalier?
A hard-working, motivated and respectable person that doesn’t back down.

Who or what motivates you in your sport?
My teammates, coaches and family motivate me to be the best I can.

What are your goals in wrestling?
My goals are to be a national champion and compete to my full potential.

Cape May, New Jersey

Jordan Burroughs, because he has accomplished so many things and is a well-respected athlete.

I love to golf.

Besides your own sport, what’s a sporting event on Grounds that fans need to experience at least once and why?
A basketball game, because the fans get really loud and it is just a great environment.

If you could play any other sport, what would it be?
I would play football.

If you could give any advice to younger athletes entering the sport what would it be?
Work hard and don’t get discouraged when everything isn’t going your way.
