CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- Members of the Virginia men’s and women’s track and field teams will compete in a pair of competitions this weekend, beginning on Friday (Feb. 9).

Members of the women’s team will participate in the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, hosted by Boston University, on Friday at the Track and Tennis Center in Boston, Mass., while members of the men’s team will compete at the meet on Saturday. Members from both teams will compete in the two-day Tiger Paw Invitational, hosted by Clemson, beginning Friday at the Clemson Indoor Track & Field Complex in Clemson, S.C.

The David Hemery Valentine Invitational will feature No. 24 Villanova on the women’s side and No. 19 Syracuse, No. 22 Florida State and No. 25 Georgetown on the men’s side.

The Tiger Paw Invitational will include 18 programs with the men’s meet featuring eight nationally-ranked teams including No. 1 Florida, No. 3 Georgia, No. 4 Texas A&M and No. 5 Alabama, while the women’s competition will feature nine nationally-ranked teams, including No. 2 Georgia, No. 4 Southern California and No. 5 Kentucky.

Virginia enters the weekend with sophomore Jordan Scott (Portmore, Jamaica) leading the men’s team with the ninth-best triple jump performance in the nation, after recording a mark of 15.98m (52’5.25″). Redshirt sophomore Ari Klau (West Hartford, Conn.) ranks 10th in the nation in the 5000m with a time of 14:10.93. Both performances were captured at the Power Five Invitational last weekend.

The women’s team is led by junior Kelly McKee (Lenexa, Kan.) and senior Bridget Guy (Greensburg, Pa.). McKee ranks 27th in the triple jump after recording a mark of 12.77m (41’10.75″) at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational on January 19, while Guy ranks 29th in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.10m (13’5.25″) at the Liberty Kickoff on January 26.

The Tiger Paw Invitational will also provide an opportunity for the Cavaliers to compete at the ACC Championships site in advance of the event. Clemson will host the conference championships February 22-24.
