As we continue through the 2017-18 season, members of the Virginia wrestling team took some time to sit down and answer a few questions to provide a little insight and help our fans get to know them better as student-athletes.

What do you love most about competing as a Virginia Cavalier?
Being a part of a program that has a vision to be the best and isn’t content with being second in anything
Why did you choose Virginia?
UVA has such a phenomenal coaching staff and a group of wrestlers who rally around each other with support for anything
What will be your lasting memory of your time as a Virginia Cavalier?
I will never forget all the close relationships I have made with wrestlers and coaches.
What defines a Cavalier?
To be a Cavalier you have to be hard working on and off the mat – always giving full effort and being a great person.
Who or what motivates you in your sport?
The opportunity to get better every time I practice excites me and keeps me very motivated to always improve.
What are your goals for the season?
My goal for the season is to make a name for myself as someone the other team will be afraid to wrestle.
Favorite family vacation?
My favorite family vacation is just getting together with all grandparents and aunts/uncles and going somewhere interesting.

Who is your hero and why?
Jordan Burroughs because he is a very hard worker who always reaches his goals.
Name one thing most people probably don’t know about you?
I have never gotten a “B” in a class
Besides your own sport, what’s a sporting event on Grounds that fans need to experience at least once and why?
Swimming, because it is one of the hardest sports and doesn’t get much recognition for their work. Being a wrestler, I know how this feels.
If you could play any other sport, what would it be?
Basketball
If you could give any advice to younger athletes entering the sport what would it be?
Take every opportunity to practice as a chance to learn and get better.
