As we continue through the 2018 season, members of the Virginia women’s tennis team took some time to sit down and answer a few questions to provide a little insight and help our fans get to know them better as student-athletes.

What do you love most about competing as a Virginia Cavalier?
Knowing that I am at a world-class university in both sports and academics, and knowing that my teammates are always there for me.

Why did you choose Virginia?
I loved Charlottesville as a city, as well as the tennis programme, and obviously the academics are incredible.

What will be your lasting memory of your time as a Virginia Cavalier?
Hopefully, winning a big championship with my teammates!

What defines a Cavalier?
A dedicated, enthusiastic, positive and outgoing person.

Who or what motivates you in your sport?
Thinking about all the people that have put time and energy into my improvement as a tennis player.

What are your goals for the season?
To make the NCAA team and individual tournament and see how far we can take it!

Favorite family vacation?
When we went to Egypt.

Favorite class?
Animal Psychology with Professor Meliza

Favorite cereal?
Cinnamon Toast Crunch

Favorite movie?
Anything Harry Potter!

What would you sing at Karaoke night?
Any song by Hedley (my favourite band), or the Beatles

Teammates would describe you as?
The Canadian one, eh?

Who is your hero and why?
My grandma is my hero because she always had so much grit and determination, but was also an incredibly giving and caring person.

Name one thing most people probably don’t know about you?
I was born in England.

Besides your own sport, what’s a sporting event on Grounds that fans need to experience at least once and why?
A basketball game because they have an incredible atmosphere.

If you could play any other sport, what would it be?
Soccer

If you could give any advice to younger athletes entering the sport what would it be?
As long as you love the sport then keep going, but don’t let it become a chore. You should always enjoy it.

Nickname (is there a story you can share that goes with it)?
RoJo. Not much of a story other than that its catchy.

Favorite holiday?
Going to California Adventure with my friends!

Friends

What is your biggest fear?
Spiders

Dream job?
A professional tennis player!

Best Athletic Memory?
Winning my first national title in under 16s because my mum surprised me and came to the final.
