CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia men’s lacrosse attackman Michael Kraus has been named the ACC Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the Atlantic Coast Conference for games played through April 8.

Kraus (New Canaan, Conn.) scored three goals and dished out four assists to lead Virginia over No. 20 North Carolina for the Cavaliers’ first ACC win since 2014. Kraus scored two goals and dished out two of his assists during a 7-1 Virginia run over roughly 20 minutes that spanned the second and third quarters. After North Carolina bounced back with a 3-0 run in the third quarter to cut UVA’s lead to three goals, 10-7, Kraus scored an unassisted goal with 2:58 left in the third to spark a three-goal UVA run and secure the critical conference win.

The honor is the first career ACC weekly honor for Kraus and the third for the Cavaliers this season. Ian Laviano was also named ACC Offensive Player of the Week on Feb. 12 after scoring five goals in the season-opening win over Loyola. Goalie Griffin Thompson was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week after the Loyola game as well. UVA returns to action on Saturday when No. 3 Duke comes to Klöckner Stadium. Faceoff is set for 1 p.m.
