CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. ÃÆ’Æ‘Æ‘¢ÃƒÆ’Æ‘¢’¬” The No. 21 Virginia (13-5, 7-3 ACC) women’s tennis team hits the road this weekend for a pair of ACC matches at No. 1 North Carolina (20-2, 9-1 ACC) and NC State (12-11, 5-5 ACC).

The Cavaliers will face the top-ranked Tar Heels at 3 p.m. on Friday (April 13) before taking on the Wolfpack at noon on Sunday (April 15).

CAVALIERS IN THE RANKINGS
The Cavaliers remained in the top 25 of the Oracle/ITA rankings this week, coming in at No. 21 after picking up a road win at Virginia Tech last weekend. It’s the eighth week this season for the Hoos to appear in the top 25 nationally.

Virginia features a doubles team in the national rankings as the pairing of Rosie Johanson (Abbotsford, British Columbia) and Meghan Kelley (Falmouth, Maine) is ranked No. 22 in the ITA Women’s Doubles rankings. In singles, the Cavaliers also have one player make an appearance with Johanson ranked No. 43 nationally.

A LOOK AT NORTH CAROLINA
North Carolina enters the weekend matchup tied for first place in the ACC with Duke, as both teams are 9-1 in conference play. The Tar Heels have dropped only two matches on the season, one to Vanderbilt and one to Georgia Tech. North Carolina features five players ranked in the latest ITA singles rankings, including two players in the top 25 ÃÆ’Æ‘Æ‘¢ÃƒÆ’Æ‘¢’¬” Makenna Jones at No. 18 and Alle Sanford at No. 25. The Tar Heels also have a pair of top-25 ranked doubles tandems, including the No. 2 pairing of Jessie Aney and Alexa Graham.

A LOOK AT NC STATE
The Wolfpack enter the weekend with a Friday doubleheader against Wake Forest and North Carolina Central before hosting the Hoos on Sunday. NC State has won three straight matches in conference play with wins over Virginia Tech, Louisville and Notre Dame. The Wolfpack has two players ranked in the latest ITA singles rankings, while the doubles pairing of Anna Rogers and Claudia Wiktorin is No. 27 in the rankings.

UP NEXT FOR THE HOOS
Virginia will close out the regular season at home next weekend, hosting Clemson and Wake Forest in a pair of matches. The Cavaliers will face the Tigers at 3 p.m. on Friday before hosting Wake Forest at noon on Sunday. Sunday’s match against the Demon Deacons will be senior day with the Cavaliers recognizing a pair of seniors as a part of the match day.
