CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.– Virginia men’s lacrosse defenseman Scott Hooper was selected in the 2018 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft on Wednesday evening. Hooper was the first pick of the fourth round, 28th overall, by the Charlotte Hounds.

Virginia now has 53 all-time selections in the MLL Draft, which trails only Syracuse (61) and Maryland (57) for most in the nation all-time. UVA has had at least one player drafted in 17 straight MLL Drafts after having no one taken in the very first collegiate draft in 2001.

Hooper (Wakefield, R.I.) is No. 1 in the ACC and No. 18 in the nation with 20 caused turnovers. He has picked up 25 ground balls this year and has started 54 of 57 career games. The senior has picked up 102 career ground balls and has caused 85 turnovers in his career. Hooper is one of UVA’s two captains in 2018.
