The Cavaliers enter the conference championships with the top-two performances in the women’s triple jump. Junior Kelly McKee (Lenexa, Kan.) posted the season’s top distance with a mark of 13.28m (43’7″), while redshirt junior Mia Barron (Minnetonka, Minn.) is tied for second with a jump of 12.96m (42’6.25″). In the women’s pole vault, redshirt junior Bridget Guy (Greensburg, Pa.) posted the conference’s second-best performance this season, after clearing a height of 4.46m (14’7.75″) at the Virginia Challenge. She set a Lannigan Field, meet and school record with the performance.

On the men’s side, freshman Alfred Shirley III (Chesapeake, Va.) paces the conference in the 400m with a time of 46.34 as junior Hilmar Jonsson (Reykjavik, Iceland) holds the top hammer throw performance with a mark of 71.09m (233’3″). Redshirt junior Oghenakpobo Efekoro (Brooklyn, N.Y.) enters the weekend with the second-best mark in the shot put, posting a distance of 19.14m (62’9.5″)

At the 2017 ACC Championships, the men’s team recorded a second-place finish, tallying 119 points for the program’s highest point total since 2010. Jonsson captured his second consecutive ACC title in the hammer throw, earning All-ACC honors alongside 14 additional Cavaliers. The women’s team finished eighth last season with five student-athletes earning All-ACC honors.

The meet will also signify the men’s and women’s matchup between Virginia and Virginia Tech in the Commonwealth Clash.
