CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Virginia women’s soccer team will have five new faces on the pitch this fall as head coach Steve Swanson announced the program’s latest recruiting class on Thursday (May 24).

Claire Constant, Rebecca Jarrett and Micaela Moran have all signed National Letters of Intent. The trio will join early enrollees Ashlynn Serepca and Alexa Spaanstra for the upcoming season. Serepca and Spaanstra joined the squad in January and have been practicing with the team throughout the spring season.

“We are very excited about this class for a number of reasons,” said Virginia head coach Steve Swanson. “First of all, there is some real talent in this group in all the phases of the game, attacking, defending and most importantly, in transition. Second this is a very versatile group of players that cover every position on the pitch. This is important as we like to have players that can play a number of roles on the field. Third, we really like both the athleticism and technical ability that each of these players bring to our team. And finally, this group as a whole has so many of the intrinsic traits that are so important to being successful at this level. We cannot wait to have this class join what will be an experienced returning core in August for the start of our pre-season training.”

The incoming class is the fourth-ranked class nationally and includes four players ranked in the top 40 nationally by TopDrawerSoccer.com

The newcomers join 21 returning players from last year’s squad that advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament and spent most of the season ranked among the top 10.
