Scott, Owens Compete in Triple Jump for Jamaica

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.- Rising junior Jordan Scott and incoming freshman Owayne Owens will represent Jamaica at the IAAF World U20 Championships and Athletics World Cup Championship, respectively, this weekend.
Owens will jump at 11 a.m. ET on Friday (July 13) in the triple jump at the IAAF World U20 Championships at the Ratina Stadium in Tampere, Finland. The event will feature 23 athletes from 18 countries.
Scott will compete in the triple jump on Saturday (July 14) at the Athletics World Cup Championships at the London Stadium in London. He will jump at 2:30 p.m. ET.
Owens enters the competition after winning the Under 20 Jamaican Championship in the triple jump last month. He recorded a mark of 15.70m (51’6.25″) to capture the title in the event.
Scott was named the Jamaican national champion in the triple jump after posting a mark of 16.55m (54’3.75″). In addition to winning the event, Scott set a UVA record with his performance.
