CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –Virginia freshman Rebecca Jarrett (Washington Township, N.J.) and senior Brianna Westrup (Corona del Mar, Calif.) were recognized by the ACC this week with the release of the league’s weekly soccer awards on Tuesday (Sept. 11). Jarrett was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while Westrup was Co-Defensive Player of the Week.

The duo helped the Cavalier remain undefeated on the season at 7-0-0 with a shutout victory over Liberty and a 2-1 road win at No. 11 Penn State last week. Westrup shares the honor with Florida State’s goalkeeper Brooke Bollinger.

It is the first ACC weekly honor for Jarrett who scored the game-winning goal at nationally-ranked Penn State on Sunday. The freshman forward came off the bench and scored the second goal of the match in the first half, providing the final margin of victory for the Cavaliers over the Nittany Lions.

Westrup helped the Cavalier defense post a shutout over Liberty in the first match of the week, coming off the bench and bolstering a back line that held the Flames to one shot on the night on the way to the 6-0 victory for Virginia. In the start at Penn State, Westrup scored in the sixth minute of play to get the Cavaliers on the board and apply early pressure to the Nittany Lion offense as Virginia won its fourth straight match over Penn State

The Cavaliers are set to return to action this weekend, traveling to open ACC play at Virginia Tech on Friday. Kick is set for 5:30 p.m. ET.
