Green Named Female ACC Performer of the Week

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia runner Abbey Green (Bethesda, Md.) was named the female ACC Performer of the Week and Freshman of the Week by the conference office on Tuesday (Sept. 26) after leading the Cavaliers at the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown, hosted by Boston College, last Friday.
 
Green captured a third-place finish in UVA’s first road competition of the season, the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown. Her performance of 17:16.8 in the 5k race helped lead the Cavaliers to an eighth-place finish at the meet.
 
In addition to being Virginia’s top runner, Green led the conference in a meet that featured six opposing ACC schools. She was also the first freshman to cross the finish line at the meet.
 
Green and the Cavaliers will compete next at the Penn State National Open on Oct. 12.
