CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. –The 2018-19 wrestling season opens this weekend and the Cavaliers begin competition at home as Virginia (0-0) hosts Indiana (0-0) in a noon dual meet at Memorial Gym on Saturday (Nov. 3).

Admission to all home Virginia wrestling matches is free to the public.
 
FOLLOW THE ACTION
Fans who can’t make it out to Memorial Gym for Friday’s dual meet can keep up with the action through several different methods. The match will be streamed live through the ACC Network Extra and is also available through live stats. Links to both mediums are available at VirginiaSports.com. CAVALIERS IN THE RANKINGS
Redshirt sophomore Louie Hayes (Orland Park, Ill.) is ranked No. 8 at 125 pounds in the opening edition of the InterMat rankings.

HOOS BACK
The Cavaliers welcome back five NCAA qualifiers from last season with Hayes, Krivus, Mueller, Love and Schany all back from last season. Though the lineup could feature many familiar faces, they won’t all be in the same positions. Krivus has dropped down to 141 pounds, while Love has dropped down to 197 pounds. Schany has moved back up to 184 pounds. Hayes is the only one who was remained at his weight class from the previous season.

MUELLER SET TO REPRESENT THE U.S.
Jack Mueller, though returning on the roster, will be redshirting this season as he travels to represent the United States on the world stage at the U23 World Championships in freestyle wrestling.

NEW HOOS ON THE ROSTER
The Cavaliers welcome a talented crop of freshmen to the mat this season with an eight-man class on Grounds. The newcomers feature six wrestlers who were ranked in the top 20 of their weight class in high school and claimed state championships. 
 
UP NEXT FOR THE CAVALIERS
Virginia will hit the road next weekend to compete at the Journeymen Duals for the second straight season. The event, held in Albany, N.Y., will see the Cavaliers wrestle three duals on Saturday (Nov. 10). Virginia is slated to face off with Ithaca College, Nebraska and Wyoming in the all-day event.
