Freshman Ryan Goetz (Greenlawn, N.Y.) is competing at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, taking place November 7-11, 2018, at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Arizona.

Goetz opened play on Wednesday with a 6-4, 1-6, 7-5 victory over Sameer Kumar of Stanford, but fell to No. 8 seed Nicolas Moreno de Alboran of UC Santa Barbara, 6-3, 6-4 on Thursday in the Round of 32.

The Oracle ITA National Fall Championships features 64 of the nation’s top collegiate men’s singles players and 32 men’s teams. In its second year, having replaced the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, it is the lone event on the collegiate tennis calendar to feature competitors from all five divisions (NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and JUCO) playing in the same tournament.

Players qualified for the tournament through designated placings at earlier ITA National Championships and the ITA Regional Championships. Goetz earned is spot in the main singles draw as a finalist at the ITA Atlantic Regional in October.
